How to Report Students Graduate (Academic) Record / Indiana Diplomas

Report a record for each graduating student providing:

Beginning with students assigned to the 2029 Graduation Cohort must be reported as earning a new Indiana Diploma. Students assigned to an earlier Graduation Cohort may ‘opt in’ to fulfill and earn a new Indiana Diploma and be reported with only those Indiana diplomas earning a Seal of Honors or Honors Plus.

An Indiana Diploma Level from one of the allowable code values in below chart:

  • Students may complete requirements for more than one Indiana Diploma with a Seal of Honors or Honors Plus.

    • Students may earn up to three Indiana Diploma with Seals of either Honors or Honors Plus in each area (Enrollment, Employment, Enlistment).

    • Students completing requirements for more than one Indiana Diploma with Seals of either Honors or Honors Plus:

      • Report the most relevant Indiana Diploma as the Diploma Level (chart found below) to what the student intends to do or pursue after graduation.

      • Provide those additional diplomas as Indiana Seal Recognition Types (information found below)

    • Example: The student completed requirements for both Enrollment w/Honors and Employment w/Honors but intends to enroll in a college or university. Report the Enrollment w/Honors code value as the Diploma Level and the Employment w/Honors as the Indiana Seal Recognition Type.

 

Graduate / Grad Plan: Descriptors

An Indiana Seal Recognition Type from one of the allowable code values in below chart (when necessary):

  • Students may complete requirements for more than one Indiana Diploma with a Seal of Honors or Honors Plus.

    • Students may earn up to three Indiana Diploma with Seals of either Honors or Honors Plus in each area (Enrollment, Employment, Enlistment).

  • Provide additional Indiana Diploma with Seals earned as Indiana Seal Recognition Type1 or Type2 when necessary, utilizing one of the allowable code values below.

    • Code values are the same for type1 and type2.

    • Students not earning an additional Indiana Diploma with a Seal of Honors or Honors Plus do not require the additional Seal Recognition data.

 

Graduate / Grad Plan: Descriptors

The Diploma Award Date:

  • Provide the accurate award date if student completes their graduation requirements prior to the end of the school year OR the date of the graduation ceremony after the last day of the school calendar.


Student GPA Information including:

Reporting GPA data requires:

  • Overall Cumulative GPA (GradePointAverageValue)

    • The student's overall cumulative GPA for the entirety of their high school career.

      • A student’s high school career may begin prior to entering 9th grade. The GPA begins when students take their first high school course which may be prior to 9th grade.

    • Students may have an overall cumulative GPA value higher than 4.0 provided.

  • Grade Point Average Type Descriptor identifying if the GPA is considered weighted or unweighted

    • Reporting may be at the school level or student level based on current reporting values schools have in place.

  • GPA ‘Is Cumulative’

    • This is always ‘True’ as the state expects the GPA provided to be cumulative.

      • This is not the GPA of each course, each term, or each school year; this is to be an overall cumulative GPA.

  • Maximum GPA value (maxGradePointAverageValue)

    • This is set at 4.0 for state reporting while students may have a higher (or lower) cumulative value provided.
