Calendar: General Reporting Info

Overview:

Calendar data establishes a school’s calendar and calendar event dates for which the school was in operation.

  • To be compliant with the minimum of instructional time per IC 20-30-2-2.

  • To be compliant with the minimum number of instructional days per IC 20-30-2-3.

  • To be compliant with the definition of a school year per IC 20-18-2-17.

  • To be compliant with the minimum length of a school year per IC 20-30-2-7

Calendar Data Impacts:

  • Determining qualification for Performance Qualified districts or high schools per IC 20-24.2

  • Determining compliance with special education evaluation timelines

  • Determining student enrollment for state assessment participation

Calendar applies to:

  • Public schools (both Traditional and Charter)

  • Non-public schools participating in the Choice Scholarship program

  • Non-public schools (Performance Based Accredited and Freeway-Accredited)

  • State Schools (Department of Correction, Indiana School for the Deaf, Indiana School for the Blind.)

Submission and update of calendar records are available year round

October - expected school year calendar (certified data utilized for school year validations)

July - final/actual school year calendar (certified data utilized for accountability)


General Reporting Info:

  • Report the expected begin and end date of the school calendar

    • Report the begin and end date for each session/term of the school

    • Report the earliest school calendar date if the school has a staggered start date schedule

      • example: PK students start school two weeks later

    • Report the latest school calendar date if the school has a staggered end date schedule

      • example: PK students end school two weeks earlier

  • Report an accurate calendar event record for each expected instructional day

    • Two calendar events with duration of .5 each may be provided for the same instructional day

    • Durations summing more than 1 are not allowed and will cause an error

  • Schools may provide non-instructional days; but, these are not required

    • Example of non-instructional days are breaks and holidays

  • Report the expected amount of instructional minutes for each school day

    • Report updated instructional minutes for days resulting in a delay or early dismissal

    • Report greatest amount of instructional minutes expected when grade levels associated to the school are both elementary and secondary

  • Report the Calendar Type for each school

  • Report if the district or high school is Performance Qualified per IC  20-24.2.

  • Report any necessary corrections to calendar dates by June 30th

    • Update calendar events as needed on dates originally scheduled but were canceled, changed to virtual learning, delay/early dismissal, etc.

      • Update instructional time on calendar dates with delays or early releases
