General education students expelled and no longer receiving educational services are not counted for membership.
Special education students expelled are still counted for membership.
General education students expelled AND still receiving educational services (placed 'homebound/virtual' in lieu of the expulsion) who are engaged in their education may be counted for membership and will remain enrolled and active at the school. All student data will continue to be provided.
Discipline data providing the expulsion information is still required.
Schools have the relationship already identified with the enrollment record provided from the start of the school year so any remaining data needed to be provided will be allowed. Report GR data once the student has completed their graduation requirements. Summer school outcomes will be provided for either July certification (if completed and ready for reporting prior to June 30th) or October certification (if completed after July 1st or data is not ready for reporting until after July 1st).
Expulsion hearing is held in current school year and upheld will be reported in current school year. Expulsion hearing is held in past school year and days carry into current school year will have the expulsion provided in past school year only. This also includes OSS (Out-Of-School Suspensions) that might carry over. Attendance is not reported for those days carry over to the current school year.
This data as reported is accurate for the 2023 school. Moving forward for 2024 DEX reporting schools will be reporting days assigned and days served which may not match.
No, this is not a required data point for non-public schools.
